ERGO

Timing is critical for athletes of all levels, from recreational to Olympic. The equipment should be in symmetry with your movements, keeping you in rhythm, and helping you achieve your goals instead of hindering it.

CHALLENGE

Design a watch with better ergonomics to help athletes stay focused while running, being able to see their time without adjusting stride. Remove pressure points on joints while operating the watch, create a better viewing angle for the screen, and help athletes achieve their goals.

SOLUTION

Change where the watch face will rest on a users wrist, allowing the runner to view their time without altering stride. Rotate the watch face along the x-axis to increase readability at a quick glance. Changing the location of the buttons allows for the opposite hand to operate the watch with greater ease, putting less stress on the wrist. All these features minimize any efforts to view or use the watch, helping keep the athlete in natural motion.

Our natural arm stance is one with the top of our wrists facing outward, and the sides of the wrist pointed vertically. In order to make a watch most effective, placing the watch face in direct view of the user increases readability and limits inefficient body movements.

(A) Using a standard sports watch, you must adjust to view the time piece that can cause strain on your body.
(B) With the unique shape of the ERGO, it allows it to be easily read while running, and operation requires minimal effort and strain.
